The Latvian Dyslexia Association (Latvijas Disleksijas biedrība) supports and advocates for people of all ages who have dyslexia or otherwise struggle with print. We promote evidence-based remediation (pedagogic intervention) and effective accommodation for students with dyslexia. While we lobby for assistance to people of all ages, we are not service providers.
We have consistently worked to improve the provision and quality of education for students with dyslexia in Latvia. We also do advocacy to improve the legal framework in education. Further, we spread information to the public to fight negative stereotypes about people with dyslexia. In 2008 we were the first to get the notion of accommodation (for students with dyslexia) enshrined in education legislation in Latvia.
We have been working in this area for more than 20 years.
